I'm Wessel, living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I'm the kind of person people are usually surprised to find at home – I often hear the classic: “Oh, you’re actually home?” But working full-time means our annual leave days are pretty scarce. That’s why I make a lot of relatively short trips to see as much of the world as possible. 

With shorter trips, it’s impossible to see an entire country, so I focus on manageable itineraries where I can experience the country and its culture without rushing – because in the end… you can always go back! 

About me 
It’s one of those classic stories – as a kid, I was completely obsessed with traveling. I spent hours watching travel documentaries, knew every RTL Travel episode by heart, and followed Floortje Dessing (a famous Dutch travel presenter) on all her adventures. 

At school, I was planning trips for teachers, reading encyclopedias for fun, and staring at world maps for hours. So, it wasn’t a surprising choice to study tourism and start working at a travel agency. 

But I quickly realized: this wasn’t for me. I didn’t want to send people on trips – I wanted to go myself. So, I moved to Dublin to pursue a career in aviation and started working for an airline, something I’m still doing today – almost 10 years later. 

Over the years, I’ve come to know Europe by heart. I can tell you the best coffee spots or restaurants in most cities. I'd happily take you along, but... that’s not the purpose of this blog. 

What this blog is about 
While gathering information and creating itineraries for my own trips, I noticed how hard it is to find useful, realistic websites focused on short(er) getaways. The internet is flooded with blogs, tour operator websites, and influencers writing about epic adventures – a week in Cape Town, or the perfect three-week Panama experience. 

But few cater to people like us – full-time workers trying to travel smart with limited days off. This blog is for you: packed with realistic short-trip itineraries, travel tips, things worth skipping, and absolute must-sees.
