Travel with FindingWessel
Originally, I created this website to share travel tips with friends, family, and colleagues. Since recently moving to one of the most beautiful states in the U.S.—Oregon—I’m excited to show you Portland and its surroundings through carefully curated day trips and overnight escapes, mainly focused on my airline colleagues.
Whether it’s a quick city break, a weekend getaway, or a compact adventure, FindingWessel offers insider tips, practical advice, and realistic travel plans so you can experience the culture, sights, and flavors of a destination without feeling rushed. The goal is to help you travel more often, discover new places, and create memorable experiences—even with a tight schedule. Because sometimes, less time doesn’t have to mean less adventure.
You can find the day trips I currently offer under the “FindingOregon” tab in the menu above. Be sure to also check out my other tips and trips in the header—or simply use the search. I hope to see you in Portland!
About FindingWessel
Hi, I’m Wessel – a 30 year old Flight Attendant currently living in Amsterdam. People are often surprised to find me at home, because I travel as often as I can - both for work or private. With a full-time job and limited leave days, I focus on shorter trips that still offer a real feel of a destination. I believe you don’t need weeks to truly experience a place – just the right plan.
As a kid, I was obsessed with travel shows, memorized RTL Travel episodes, and followed Dutch presenter Floortje Dessing religiously. I studied tourism and started out at a travel agency, but soon realized I didn’t want to send others on trips – I wanted to go myself. That decision led me to a career in aviation, where I’ve now worked for nearly 10 years.
This blog, FindingWessel, is about smart itineraries, short escapes, and making the most of your limited vacation days. No fluff – just honest tips, realistic routes, and personal stories to help you travel more, even when time is short.
